The skin on our bodies is often neglected as we tend to focus on our face and figure our bodies will just look after themselves. Big mistake!
There are some simple things you can do to look after your body that will reduce dryness, stop eczema from flaring up and keep it glowing year round.
Here are my top tips for looking after your skin:
Ultimate Body Oil
This gorgeous shimmering oil was originally made for my babies but once I realised how lovely it could make my skin look and feel, I started using it for myself more frequently. The core ingredients in this oil are certified organic camelia, calendula and jojoba, all of which are designed to hydrate, soothe and absorb rapidly into skin. The result is a lovely sheen which makes your skin look super healthy, without any greasy side effects. Perfect for showing off your arms and legs as the weather warms.
Hot tip: apply straight out of the bath or shower for the ultimate in hydrated, glowing skin.
Ultimate Hand + Body Lotion
Hands down the best body lotion on the market. This beauty offers long-lasting moisture that keeps skin moist way beyond most body lotions. Seriously, one of my staff members says she can apply this only 2-3 times a week and the moisture carries on between applications. I also recently had a customer comment how it had lightened sunspots on her legs. Perfect for seriously dry skin.
Hot tip: On a stretch you can also use this one on your face as its seriously hydrating and soothing.
Ultimate SOS Balm
Originally made for my Dad when he was having radiation treatment for cancer, this super-concentrated balm will soothe any rashes or redness that pop up. Perfect for sunburnt skin, it works quickly to calm inflammation and forms a gentle natural barrier against the elements.
Hot tip: I found it really helpful for my kids when they were having swimming lessons to keep their skin from drying out and rashes flaring up. I would apply it before their classes, and it would stop the chlorine in the pool water from getting to their skin.
What about body sunscreen?
I have always used the Soleo Organics sunscreen. It’s Australian made, organic, and naturopath developed. It’s not too thick and ‘zincy’, and smells really lovely. It’s the only one my kids will let me put on them and I have made them try quite a few natural ones over the years.
Hope these tips get the skin on your body looking its best ever this summer.

When my skin looks and feels good, I feel amazing. But this is not as easily achieved as I get older. The decrease of hormones available in my body in my current state of perimenopause plays a huge factor in how well my skin stays hydrated and how it looks. Progesterone and oestrogen play many roles in the skin’s health, in particular the stimulation of skin sebum (the skin’s natural oils), the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid (which keeps skin thick and plump), and the stability of the skin’s barrier (which affects skin sensitivity, amongst other things).

Our skin is a creature of habit and it loves a routine. When you suddenly change the products you have been applying to it – either by adding in products or by changing products completely – you will very often see a reaction in one form or another. This reaction can be either good or bad. A good reaction sees your skin improve. A bad reaction is very often a skin purge. Let's talk more about skin purges, why they happen and what you can do to lessen their effect.
