The summer holidays are here and for many of us it's time to think about packing our bags for a little time away, if not a little time out.
When I'm packing for our 2 week annual beach holiday it has to be simple and light-weight. I don’t have the space nor the time to spend hours on my skin and so I make sure to only include products which will keep my skin in top shape, quick smart.
Want to know what I pack? Here’s a sneak peak into my travel bag and my top skincare picks for healthy summer skin:
I'm so happy to have these mini sizes because it makes packing all my skincare products into one cosmetic bag for the family so much easier. It includes all the essentials: cleanser, toner, serum and moisturiser. The Tone + Hydrate Spritz is heaven after a long day in the sun - sooo cooling. The Repair Face Serum is also a fave at the end of the day as it quickly soothes any sun damage and helps to keep my pigmentation in check.

Protect + Clarify Daily Face Lotion
Whilst this is only SPF15, this is what I have on my face at every other time of day that I'm not at the beach (which is when I'll be wearing SPF30). You see you are always getting incidental sun exposure and so its super important to make sure you're always wearing some sun protection. I love this lotion because it not only hydrates and protects, but it contains ingredients to help reduce pigmentation, keep my skin clear and youthful for as long as possible.

Not forgetting the body, our Ultimate SOS Balm is what the rest of my skin gets lathered in. At the end of the day this balm can save your skin in all kinds of ways. Not only can you use it as an all over body moisturiser, on any skin flare ups (eczema, dermatitis, rosacea), but it’s great for bites, sun damaged skin and pigmentation. It’s essential on my body after a long day at the beach when my skin is uber dehydrated. I also slather my kids in it after a little too much sun or when they get inundated by mozzies. This is most certainly one product you will never see me without this summer. And it now comes in a super cute mini size which you can pop in your beach bag - so handy.

Spending days at the beach with the family, applying layers of zinc-based sunscreen to prevent sunburn and all that comes with excessive sun exposure, I will use my 2 in 1 Exfoliant + Mask every 2nd day to keep my skin clear and my pores unblocked. It’s so refreshing on skin and leaves it feeling silky soft and glowing. LOVE having clean, make-up free skin all summer long.

Hope you can take some well-earned time off this summer and enjoy a little beach time too.

When my skin looks and feels good, I feel amazing. But this is not as easily achieved as I get older. The decrease of hormones available in my body in my current state of perimenopause plays a huge factor in how well my skin stays hydrated and how it looks. Progesterone and oestrogen play many roles in the skin’s health, in particular the stimulation of skin sebum (the skin’s natural oils), the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid (which keeps skin thick and plump), and the stability of the skin’s barrier (which affects skin sensitivity, amongst other things).

Our skin is a creature of habit and it loves a routine. When you suddenly change the products you have been applying to it – either by adding in products or by changing products completely – you will very often see a reaction in one form or another. This reaction can be either good or bad. A good reaction sees your skin improve. A bad reaction is very often a skin purge. Let's talk more about skin purges, why they happen and what you can do to lessen their effect.
